Proportion Killer

Problem / Brief

Most road car proportions are constrained by comfort, packaging, and convention. Proportion Killer set those constraints aside deliberately, treating the "book of car design" as a starting point to break rather than follow.

Research

Reference came from endurance racing rather than road cars, Le Mans prototypes solve for aerodynamics and performance first and comfort a distant second, producing proportions no road-going brief would normally allow: extreme cabin-forward stances, minimal overhangs, and canopies scaled to the driver rather than to passenger comfort.

Iterations

Ten concept directions explored how far the proportion could be pushed before the design stopped reading as a car, working through cabin position, wheel-arch scale, and canopy silhouette across the set before converging on a single direction with a low, fighter-jet-canopy cockpit sitting inside dramatically oversized wheel arches. Centring the cockpit and dropping it to a single seat was part of that same proportion study, removing the passenger side entirely let the canopy narrow and the surfacing stay focused on one occupant rather than compromising for two.

Outcome

The result reads as unapologetically performance-first: a low, narrow, centrally-seated single-seat cockpit, aggressive wheel arches, and a stance closer to a Le Mans prototype than any road car. Proportion Killer works as a study in how far a design brief can lean into performance-driven proportion before comfort has to claw any of it back.
